Easy Way of Cooking Chicken in a Rice Cooker

If you find yourself in a situation where you don’t have access to a kitchen and all you have is a rice cooker, you can still make a complete home-cooked meal that is well-balanced, nutritious, and delicious at the same time. If you have a standard rice cooker, you can’t use it to fry foods because the temperature isn’t hot enough, but you can use it to sauté vegetables on their own gently or as part of a delicious rice dish.

What is the cooking procedure?

With a large 7-cup capacity, the 8-cup Cuisinart CRC-800P1 Rice Cooker can cook enough rice in one sitting, even for a large family, and its 2-inch rice rinsing/steamer basket is perfect for steaming chicken, vegetables, or even puddings.

How to cook frozen chicken in a rice cooker?

Although necessary, you must defrost the frozen chicken before putting it in the rice pot. If the rice cooker doesn’t have a steamer basket, just place the chicken in the bottom of the rice cooker, although I wouldn’t recommend doing this if you’re cooking bone-in or skin-on chicken, as these meats tend to stick and cause a lot of mess.

As for the vegetables, I recommend putting them on top of the rice when it’s about to boil. Add the vegetables to the rice when the rice is almost cooked and has absorbed most of the water. If you want to add some veggies, you can use shiitake mushrooms and bury them under the chicken in the rice. The chicken should be tender and juicy, and the rice should be very soft.

After that, just let the chicken do it by itself, and the result is tender, flavorful chicken with soft, fluffy, flavoured rice underneath. Put in two pieces of chicken with rice and seasonings, press the button, and your dinner will be ready in 20-30 minutes. Then, cover the boneless meat with water, a little chicken broth or both, and seasonings such as stock cubes and dried herbs.

Heat a few drops of oil in a skillet on the stove for a whole chicken. If your chicken is very large, you may need to cut off the legs and cook them separately.

Chicken can be streamed using a traditional steamer placed over a pot, a grill at the bottom of a well-covered pan, hanging the chicken over water, or using an electric steamer.
