How To Prevent Rice From Sticking
When making rice, they can clump together during the cooking process or after they are done. So, if you are looking for an easy way to stop the rice from sticking, add a tablespoon of butter or any oil per cup of uncooked rice in boiling water. This will prevent the rice from sticking.
When used correctly, the rice cooker should not stick to the pot and leave no water at the bottom of the pot when cooking. Rice may stick to the bottom of the rice cooker due to improper cooking. You can prevent them from sticking together by adding more water, rinsing the rice before cooking, adding a tablespoon of oil, or steaming the rice after it is already cooked. This can be avoided by adding more water, rinsing the rice before cooking, adding a tablespoon of oil, or steaming the rice.
Rinsing the rice before cooking allows the starch on the surface of the rice to escape somewhere other than the pan. If you prefer softer rice, especially brown rice, add a couple of tablespoons to 1/4 cup water before cooking. Let the pot simmer until the water level drops below the level of your rice (the rice peeks through the top of the rice). Reduce the heat to low, place a kitchen towel over the skillet and cover the rice with a lid.
Pour the rice into the pan, add a drop of water and use a fork to break up large bunches of rice. Mix rice and some water in a microwave safe dish and spread the rice in a thin layer.
Carefully remove excess starch from individual rice grains. If you want to separate the grains perfectly, rinsing removes the thin layer of starch on the surface of each grain and helps keep the rice from sticking together. If you want the rice grains to separate perfectly, you need to add some ghee (clarified butter) or vegetable oil.

Just add a little butter (sesame or peanut butter is also good if you want to make fried rice). Adding a small amount of fat, such as a teaspoon of vegetable oil, will help lubricate the rice and keep the grains from sticking together during the cooking process. Adding a few drops of butter or a dab of butter to your cooking juices can help keep the rice from sticking together (about a tablespoon). If you want to flavor the rice, you can add a pinch of salt, 1 tablespoon butter, or even boil it in broth instead of water.
If you prefer firmer, drier rice, reduce the amount of water by a few tablespoons and reduce the cooking time by a few minutes. This handy trick only works if you have very little water in your container and your rice isn’t cooked to maximum.
Sometimes just following the traditional method of cooking rice, which is to boil water, add rice, cover tightly, and cook until cooked, is not enough. Some sources recommend adding the rice to the boiling water, but I’ve found that cooking the rice this way makes the rice hard and crispy and takes longer to cook. It is very important not to open or stir the rice when it starts to boil, otherwise steam will come out and the rice will not cook properly.
When the rice is cooked, remove it from the heat and let it cool, after 10-15 minutes, while the rice is still hot, skip the rice with a fork so as not to break the grains. When another timer goes off, remove the lid and towel and use a fork to separate the rice into perfect individual grains. When enough water runs out (about 8-10 minutes or so), I turn over about 200g of rice and look through the glass lid to see if the rice is done.
After rinsing, put the rice in a pot with enough water according to the directions on the package and the type of grain you are using. You should try to be as thorough as possible when rinsing, as if done correctly it can remove most of the starch from the individual grains and provide a softer rice in the end. Strain the uncooked rice through a fine sieve and repeat the process three more times until the cold water runs clear.
Fine Cooking says you should soak the rice in water for 30 minutes or as long as you can, depending on how much time you have. The best ways to prevent the rice from sticking to the bottom of the pot or rice are to grease the pot properly, use a little more water, remove excess starch before cooking, and let the steam from the rice soak completely.

Rinsing some of the grated rice grains will reduce the amount of scratches left during cooking, which in turn can increase the chance of the rice sticking together. Peeling some of the spiky grains of rice limits the amount of scratches generated during cooking, increasing the chance that the rice will stick together as a result. Giving the rice some time in clean water also removes surface starch because this can cause the rice to stick together or give it a chewy texture (via The Kitchn).
To prevent further sticking, be sure to rinse the rice, stir the mixture before cooking, turn off the Keep Warm function, and use the Natural Release function (instead of Instant Release) when the rice is ready. At a minimum, cook at least 1 cup of rice – less may cause the rice to stick to the instant pot or cook unevenly. According to Martha Stewart’s article on making fluffy rice, you should leave the rice untouched for about 5 minutes to allow any remaining water to evaporate or soak into the rice. If you want to enjoy fluffy, fluffy rice, you need to add some moisture to the rice as you heat it up.
