When you are cooking pasta, it can often stick together and form a clump. In order to avoid your freshly boiled pasta from sticking to each, firstly, do not add oil if you are going to have it with a sauce. Instead, rinse it under cold water and that will prevent it from sticking.

You can prevent pasta from sticking together by stirring constantly, not adding noodles until the water boils, and if necessary adding olive oil to the cooking water. When you add pasta to boiling water, it actually lowers the temperature of the water, so if your water isn’t even boiling at first, the water will be hot when you add the noodles. When pasta is added to a small amount of water, the water temperature drops more than a large amount of water, and it takes longer for the water to boil again. It’s okay if the water temperature drops below 180 degrees, but the pasta will take longer to cook and you’ll need to stir more.
