You can freeze English muffins definitely to retain their quality for a long time. While freezing, slice and wrap them in a foil or a plastic wrapper individually to keep them away from absorbing moisture. Freezing can retain the quality of English muffins for about 3 months.

To freeze English Muffins, pre-slice and wrap them separately with tin foil or plastic wrapper to seal the moisture, and then store them in the coldest part of your freezer, preferably the back, so they will keep good quality for 3 months. If you are one of those folks who is always making fresh batches of frozen foods to replace food that you are eating, try and eat those older muffins from your freezer all the time. Bread, muffins, and rolls have relatively little shelf life at room temperature, but you can extend it by properly storing your bread in your fridge, and even more in your freezer. Bread is one of the most durable products you can store in the freezer, so as long as you consume it within several months after it is frozen, you might not even notice a difference.

The refrigerator is best for keeping bagels, sandwich bread, English muffins, pitas, and tortillas up to three months, but crispy breads like baguettes and bakery loaves last for around three weeks after warming. If you keep your muffins frozen for any length of time, they retain their quality up to six months. Using muffins in a sealed container at room temperature or the fridge will keep them up to 5 days. Use foil or plastic wrap to tightly seal your freeze packs, then place your containers into heavy-duty freezer bags. Once you have compressed out all of the air (or at least as much as you can), seal the freezer bag, then put the bag into the appropriate place in your freezer. If making muffins, close the bag tight by using bubble wrap, or tie with a knot once sealed.

The wrapper will let you remove as many muffins from the bag as you want, instead of keeping them all together. In addition to wrapping the muffins in plastic wrap, sealing in a zip-top bag, and freezing up to 3 months after they are made, you can also make these types of packaging mentioned earlier. If you purchase muffins at the store, the plastic wrap they are wrapped in is often too thin to function properly in a freezer. Some people choose to use the original wrapper the muffins came with from the store, but we strongly suggest using an appropriate freezer bag, such as these, as an appropriate freezer bag provides better freezer burn protection.

To microwave the muffins, put them into a paper cupcake lining, or wrap each muffin individually in plastic wrap. Simply wrap your muffins in paper towels or napkins, then pop it into the microwave for one minute or less, depending on your microwaves power. You can either leave them on the counter to thaw and warm, or you can lightly toast them in your microwave or in the toaster oven. If you are planning on using your microwave to defrost English muffins, you might want to wrap them in paper towels or at least put a piece of baking parchment under the muffins to ensure they maintain an adequate moisture content as they defrost, and that light, puffy texture is not affected.

Some fillings, such as lettuce or similar vegetables, may not freeze well, so take care when adding some fillings to the muffins. You may be working only with some things that will freeze well, such as cooked meats, bacon, salmon, and slices of Full Fat Cheese.

If you are certain that you are going to consume the muffins that are past their expiration date 2 days from purchase, refrigerating them is fine. This is a really important distinction, as bread products can be stored safely in a freezer up to three months, while muffins should never be kept cold. While a homemade muffin will typically keep on a shelf or in a fridge for several days, a store-bought one could keep a week, if you include the added ingredients.

To prevent that, freeze your muffins in multiple bags, making sure you separate them by type, such as chocolate chip, blueberry.
