How To Bake Frozen French Fries In The Oven

After cutting, baking, and brining more potatoes than I care to count, I present to you the foolproof method of making oven-baked chips crunchy. I read up on the crispy potato-in-the-oven-stretch trick (an additional step where you gently coat cut potatoes with cornstarch before baking), but after trying it once, I decided that it was just too much trouble and messy to be worth the trouble. I tested out all the popular baking methods for making oven fries, and the one that produced the best results with the least effort was soaking the potatoes in water before baking. While it seems that you will simply throw sliced potatoes in the hot oil (or so it seemed to me), making it is not actually all that easy.

While potatoes are the healthier version of stir-fry, if you want to crisp them up, you are going to have to go heavy on the oil anyway. These fries are seasoned appropriately, and then baked in the oven until crispy on the outside, soft and puffy on the inside.

Bake for 14-16 minutes, turning the fries over occasionally, until nice, crispy, and light golden. In the unlikely event that there are any leftovers, you can heat up the baked fries by preheating your oven to 400 degrees and placing a blank cookie sheet into the oven as it heats up. Simply placing your fries into the preheated oven may be easier and less mess-prone than using a pan or frying pan filled with hot oil. While it is true there are many things that can be done in an air fryer without preheating, I do think that makes a difference with the frozen fries.

Don’t let frozen French fries thaw before using them in the fryer. I advise keeping frozen French fries thoroughly frozen before using them. This ensures that the potato’s surface is sealed during the frying process, producing a crispy, premium fry. Before cooking, certain enterprises do defrost frozen potatoes.
Why do you soak fries in water before baking?
To make crispy french fries in the oven, soak your cut fries in some cold water for at least an hour before baking. This will help the fries crisp in the oven by removing extra potato starch from their exterior. Additionally, it makes them crisp without burning them.
