How Much Does An Orange Weigh?
The weight of the orange may vary as they grow in different sizes. The usual orange in the market that is average in size weighs somewhere between 110 to 140 grams, around 3 to 5 ounces. As for its segments, an average-sized orange available in the market contains around 9 segments.
While there is no fixed weight for an orange, it will be easier to classify them by size and provide an example of which species counts as which size. Not all small oranges are the same weight, as this depends on the thickness of the skin, but one small orange should weigh about 110 grams, even though it is called a small orange.

There are about 5 medium-sized whole unpeeled oranges in one kilogram, or about 8 medium-sized peeled oranges. If you want a pound of oranges that only weighs 500 grams, you can take three navel oranges, each weighing about 150 grams. Navel oranges that are pitted and have thicker skins are usually eaten fresh, while most Valencias with thin skins are used for juicing. Sweet oranges such as Valencias, Navel oranges (seeded varieties) and red oranges are available year-round, but the peak season for sweet oranges is from December to April.
Seville oranges also contain potassium, phosphorus, vitamin A, calcium and some antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. Oranges are rich in vitamin C and low in calories.
