How Long Does An Instant Pot Take To Natural Release
The time to determine how long an instant pot takes to release naturally depends on the amount of food in the pot. If the quantity of food is less, it can take 5 to 15 minutes. And if the food is more, it can take 15 to 30 minutes.
I set the clock to the approximate time I believe it would take for the Instant Pot to release pressure naturally. The natural release of pressure will occur 10-20 minutes after the completion of the Instant Pot cycle.
The pressure will drop after 2-3 minutes, so the food will sit in the slow cooker for at least 12-15 minutes, giving enough time for cooking. It takes about 10 minutes for the pressure cooker to release steam naturally.
The pressure cooker can be reset naturally or quickly after cooking is complete. When the pressure valve is not closed, the pan will release steam (rather than build up inside) and not reach pressure. The pressure inside the pot must be released at the end of active cooking.

Food continues to cook even after pressure cooking is completed because the contents are still under pressure. The food inside the pot will continue to cook as the pressure is reduced. When cooking, the pressure will slowly release, and you won’t see the steam coming out of the pot.
Depressurising the pot after cooking
After each cooking cycle, you need to depressurize the pot in order to open it and enjoy your food. If you leave the pressure cooker unattended after the cooking process is complete, the pressure will slowly decrease.
If you try to release the pressure quickly, especially when cooking liquid or frothy foods, steam and food can come out of the same hole, creating a mess in the kitchen. When manually releasing a pot filled with soup or broth, steam can splatter all over the kitchen.
It takes a long time for a pot filled with broth or soup to release pressure naturally. A pot filled with liquid can take a while to release pressure, so manually releasing pressure can take 5 minutes. First, the pot needs to be pressurized, which can take 10 minutes or more, depending on the amount of food it contains.

Release usually takes 10-20 minutes, depending on what and when you cook. Quick-release is much faster than natural release, but very thin foods like soups can take 10 to 15 minutes to cook.
Ensure the Instant Pot recipe allows for natural release over time, as the remaining heat can still cook food while the steam is being released, at the risk of overcooking. Since the natural release process takes time to depressurize the Instant Pot, it is recommended primarily for liquid foods such as soups or foamy foods such as beans, potatoes, and oatmeal.
What is quick release?
Quick-release simply means that the Instant Pot naturally releases pressure (slowly) over a period of time (usually 10-15 minutes) and then sets the pressure release/quick-release valve to the “reset” position to release any residual pressure quickly.
The Instant Pot will take a few more minutes to reach pressure (up to 10 minutes). As soon as the cook cycle beeps to signal it’s over, you’ll release the pressure immediately to prevent the vegetables from overcooking.
If you need extra time, just natural release for 10 minutes, activate the valve and let the rest of the pressure release.
Just turn the vent knob, and steam will come out, which takes up to 2 minutes. The steam will slowly come out on its own after 10-30 minutes, depending on the water content of the food inside.
When the liquid inside the sealed pot is heated, steam is generated, increasing the pressure in the pot, causing the food to cook two to three times faster than normal.

As the pressure builds up, the float valve eventually closes in the closed position to keep the pressure inside and drops again after cooking. When the pressure drops, the float valve lowers, informing you that the lid can be opened.
Wait for the float valve to drop and the pressure to drop on its own. You will know that the pressure is completely released as soon as the float valve (silver or red push pin at the top of the cap) is down again. When the pressure is gone, the pot will beep again, and the lid can be safely opened.
NOTE: Never put your hand or any other object on the steam release valve (pressurized steam heats up above boiling point, hot enough to burn your skin badly), and first take the slow cooker outside unless you are sure the contents are splattering (or if you don’t want your kitchen to smell like what you’ve cooked).
Setting the buttons also helps you know if the pot will be locked to trap steam in pressure cook mode or if you’ll use the Instant Pot like a regular pot or slow cooker that cooks without pressure. Cooking time under high pressure is 30 minutes.

The problem of clogging
Clogging is a fairly common problem due to the fact that many people use their instant pots for cooking refined foods such as rice or quinoa; small grains can sometimes get caught in the quick-release valve, causing clogging, which can impair performance.

After leaving the release of pressure control in its closed placement as the cooking time concludes, the pressure gets released naturally. The release of pressure happens automatically and takes some time. The top lid unlocks and opens once the float valve falls, and you can be certain that the release of pressure has been completed.
What’s the Difference Between Natural Release and Quick Release on Instant Pot?
The pressure within the pot stops automatically in the natural release. The valve is unlocked automatically. Don’t open it as soon as possible because the foam will flow. The quick release needs a little manual work. You have to open the valve yourself, and then it releases the steam, and this rapidly removes the pressure from within the pot.
