How Long Does Cooked Tofu Last In The Fridge

Cooked tofu should remain fresh for about 4-5 days if stored in the refrigerator at 40°F or lower. Tofu keeps well in the freezer for four to six months. If you wait any longer, it might still be safe to eat, but the flavor and texture might have degraded.

Cooked tofu can be placed into a sealed container and stored for up to five days in the fridge, or up to six months in the freezer. Tofu that has been flavoured and cooked can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge. To keep your tofu looking and tasting great, keep it sealed up in an airtight container in the refrigerator.

An unopened tofu packet can safely last for several months in the refrigerator, but after opening, it deteriorates far faster. If you have an unopened tofu packet that you bought at a store, and its expiration date is approaching, you might want to consider freezing it. You can still freeze cooked tofu if you wish, and it will last for 3 – 5 months once opened from the original package as well. If you need just a little bit at a time, the tofu will stay, unopened, in your refrigerator for 3-5 days.

4-5 days may be different depending on if you mixed cooked tofu with other foods, like noodles or sauces. If you have large amounts of raw tofu that you would like to consume within a single week, you could prepare all at once and keep a portion in the fridge for 6-7 days. Cooked, or even fried, tofu should be good for up to 5 days when stored in the fridge. You can let raw tofu sit out at room temperature for less than an hour before returning it to the refrigerator.

If you have made too much of an impressive tofu meal, keep the remaining tofu in the refrigerator at most for 3-4 days. Refrigerated tofu, if left unopened, can be stored in the refrigerator for 3-5 days after its use-by date. When placing the tofu in the fridge, the tofu will still remain fit to consume about 2 to 3 months past best-by date, provided that you have never opened the package. If you store your tofu correctly, you will still be able to use tofu in your dishes even after your use-by date or sale-by date has passed.

If your tofu has been stored correctly in your fridge or freezer, and has passed the sell by date, it should be fine to eat, but make sure you inspect it carefully before starting cooking with it. Fresh tofu, if purchased in a sealed bag, cannot be left out as it needs to be refrigerated. Refrigerated tofu is typically stored in water, and if left in the fridge too long, it is at risk for microbial degradation. When it is time to use your frozen tofu in cooking, you should let it dethaw overnight in the fridge, and then consume refrigerated tofu for up to 5 days.

When storing your baked tofu properly in your fridge, you should be able to use it for up to five days after it is cooked. A pre-made baked tofu meal can be thawed simply by leaving it out on your kitchen counter or in your fridge to thaw slowly for a day. You can thaw leftover tofu overnight in the fridge and use in any recipe calling for normal tofu.

If you are planning on freezing the tofu, tightly wrap it in plastic wrap and put in a resealable freezer bag. Remove any water from tofu and wrap in plastic wrap before placing in the freezer-safe container.

For convenience, you can slice up your entire block into desired portions, then use the tofu press or pat down with a paper towel to remove any excess water; then, freeze however you like. If you do not think you will be using a whole tofu block at one time in the future, you can chop it up into cubes. After the above steps are completed, place your block of tofu or cubes in your fridge bag or freezer-friendly, airtight container, or even wrap them with a cling film, and they are ready to go into the freezer.

For unopened tofu, make sure you drain out any water when you open the package; wrap the tofu in plastic, place in the container, then store it in the fridge. When you are ready to defrost and use the tofu you have prepared and frozen, you might still find you can squeeze out quite a bit of water from the tofu, which is recommended.
