Balsamic vinegar may last for several hours at room temperature once you open it. You should store it properly in a cold and suitable place. You may keep it in the fridge to use for a longer period of time. You can also increase the shelf life of the vinegar by freezing it. Make sure that you should pack it in an airtight container.
How long does balsamic vinegar last?Unlike some of the other liquids and seasonings that you use in the kitchen, balsamic vinegar, when made of authentic quality and stored correctly, lasts for such a long time, that some have been known to be as much as 10 years old. While it is difficult to prove that balsamic vinegar lasts forever, a good bottle will last a long time, as long as it is made and stored correctly. While balsamic vinegar is at its most potent for its first three years (as long as you keep your lid tightly secured), bottles can be passed down through generations and will still remain safe for consumption. While this type of vinegar does not last quite as long as, particularly, traditional types, you can still consume modern balsamic vinegar past its shelf life, or better yet, its best-by date.
The vinegar will remain safe for use if properly stored and sealed, but do not expect the same flavor. It will still be perfectly usable, but will not have as much flavor or as high of quality as when you started. While vinegar stored longer than this will still be safe for use, it is probably going to taste underwhelming. The vinegars quality will slowly degrade over those periods.
If you keep the vinegar somewhere cool, dry, and out of direct sunlight, you should be fine with the vinegar. If your vinegar is too liquidy after chilling, just heat it up a few minutes longer. Note, if storing in your refrigerator or in a kitchen cupboard, make sure to seal your bottle of vinegar.
For cleaning, rub vinegar drops, which are located at the top of the bottle, using a clean kitchen towel. Once you have opened the vinegar and used it for different purposes, be sure to put back the cap in its place and tighten it properly. If vinegar has been sitting longer than stated above, and you open up a bottle only to find it rancid, toss it out. Always test vinegar to make sure that vinegar still has the pre-existing qualities, if it does not you may want to toss it. Even if your vinegar is filtered, there may still be some traces of sediment in it (or sediment may have formed over time) that will typically be settled at the bottom of the bottle after a while.
Unlike with some other liquids, vinegar becoming cloudy is not an issue, and you can still use your vinegar as normal. Once it is at room temperature, you will want it to have a texture like that of maple syrup. If you can keep it between 59-78 degrees F, with occasional spikes up to 104 degrees F where it is impossible to avoid, vinegar is going to do just fine.

As you can see, the best things you can do for your bottle of balsamic vinegar is store it somewhere cool, keep the room temperature out, and seal the bottle correctly. To store good balsamic vinegar at home without having to use any special equipment, one trick to improve product longevity and quality is to find a spot in the home where temperature and humidity are consistent, and keep it dark, either in the bottle with a seal (if not opened already, do not open it without reason) or a glass bottle or container with a tight-fitting lid.

Since vinegar is a preservative that stores for years, it is not much of a stretch to think it should remain fine quite a while past the date on the label. If it is cheap vinegar, then it should hold at least a few months longer.
If you are going to keep it for more than 3 – 5 years, going up to 10, that is fine, but then the vinegar starts losing its flavor, quality, and veracity. After two to three years, the quality of the opened vinegar bottle will slowly start to degrade, and you will not enjoy the most out of your favorite condiment. If you notice mold within the bottle, dispose of the vinegar right away.
If the taste is too strong, you should keep your vinegar, since acids will spoil your dishes. If you use it mainly for salads, you might prefer it chilled, so if you prefer keeping it refrigerated, that is not the end of the world.
