Mashed potatoes, if stored properly in an air-tight container can last up to 3 to 4 days in the fridge, in the coldest part. If placing the cooked mashed potatoes in the vegetable container of the fridge, it will last for 3 to 5 months. And if you’re freezing, they will last for 10 months.

If cooked mashed potatoes will last 3 to 4 days in the refrigerator and almost 10 to 12 months in the freezer depending on the potato variety. It will keep for 1 to 2 weeks at room temperature, depending on the potato variety. Potatoes keep for 1 to 2 weeks at room temperature and 3 to 5 months if stored in a vegetable container in the refrigerator. Sweet potatoes keep 3-4 days in the refrigerator and longer if stored in the freezer.

Properly stored in an airtight container, mashed potatoes usually keep in the refrigerator for 3 to 5 days. Mashed potatoes can last up to five days in the refrigerator and stay fresh for at least ten months when properly stored in the freezer. In the freezer, leftover potatoes from mashed potatoes can be stored almost indefinitely, but they should be used within a month of storage as there will come a time when they will taste similar to their original taste without further enrichment during the defrosting process. It is important to know that puree can go bad. However, they can be stored for a long time in the refrigerator.

Store mashed potatoes in an airtight container or zippered bag to keep potatoes longer in the refrigerator. Potatoes left over from mashed potatoes will keep in the refrigerator for a maximum of four days if placed in an airtight container and placed in the refrigerator for 2 hours after cooking to bring down the temperature. Luckily, you can keep leftover mashed potatoes in the fridge for 3 to 5 days to make them last even longer. But keep in mind that after reheating potatoes, you shouldn’t store them for three more days. This isn’t always practical, so if you keep potatoes in the kitchen, keep them away from the stove or heater. When you bring home from the store, make sure your potatoes are firm so you can store them safely, either crispy in the bottom of the refrigerator or in a cool, dark drawer or pantry.

Do not store in the same drawer as the onion, leave the onion outside as being near it will spoil the potatoes. Let the potatoes cool completely to room temperature before storing and separate them to make them easier to thaw. Chill the mashed potatoes according to the chilling procedure above before placing them in a Ziploc bag and flattening to make room.

Just whip up your favorite mashed potatoes, let it cool completely, then store it in a freezer bag, freezer storage container, or a well-covered, freezer-safe saucepan, then place the freezer bag in the freezer. If you want to save the leftover puree without cooking it again, place it in an ovenproof dish or cover with aluminum foil and place the dish in a warm place.

Boiled potatoes (including mashed, fried, or escalope) defrosted in the refrigerator can be refrigerated for an additional 3-4 days before cooking; Potatoes thawed in the microwave or in cold water should be consumed immediately.

Potatoes should be eaten as soon as possible after cooking if they are to be stored in the refrigerator for more than three days. Fresh potatoes at about 50 degrees/10 degrees can be stored for 2 to 3 months. Bacteria grow rapidly between 40 and 140 degrees Fahrenheit; cooked potatoes should be discarded if left at room temperature for more than 2 hours.

It’s best not to store potatoes for too long, so you don’t get sick from eating potatoes with bacteria or mold on them. Be sure to check your potatoes every few days to determine if they’ve gone bad, and throw them away as soon as you notice any signs of spoilage. Make sure the container that holds the mashed potatoes is airtight or well covered with aluminum foil or plastic wrap to prevent it from drying out and absorbing moisture (which can shorten its shelf life).

Storing potatoes in the refrigerator will cause the starch to turn into sugar, giving it a sweet taste that you don’t want from a potato. Avoid soaking potatoes for more than 12 hours as the potatoes will begin to lose texture and flavor. Boiled potatoes can be frozen in batches in plastic containers and will keep for about 12 weeks.

Eating mashed potatoes does not really cause food poisoning until and unless you ate a spoiled or way too old batch of them or they were eaten in excess. Avoid storing the mashed potatoes for too long and having them in huge quantities as they are rich in carbs and fats.
