How long can you leave the oven on with nothing in it
You can leave your oven on for 12 hours without anything in it. Though this is not recommended, it’s safe. However, most ovens have an automatic timer that shuts the ovens off after a couple of hours of no use.
If you don’t have anything to build a fire, you can leave the oven on for hours without catching fire. As long as the oven door remains closed and your oven is working or not working properly, you can leave your oven on for twelve hours or more without worry. Then set the oven to high heat somewhere between 400 and 550 degrees and then just let the oven run for about 30 minutes. So turn off the oven and check if the smell is still there, if there is smell, then repeat the burning process again, this time you can also leave the oven on a little longer and then check again.
