You can keep peeled boiled eggs for up to one week in the fridge, without them spoiling. However, they should store properly to achieve this like in a sealed container or in cold water. Furthermore, not just peeled you can also keep unpeeled hard boiled eggs do up to one week in the fridge.

If you are wondering whether or not eating eggs left outside at room temperature is safe, you should know that a hard-boiled egg that is left out in the cold does not last longer than two hours, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Peeled hard-boiled eggs do not last nearly as long as they unpeeled ones, so if you are not planning to eat the eggs in around five days, you can leave the shells on to give yourself an entire week.

If you are not planning to eat your eggs once they are prepped, go ahead and put them in the freezer. The night before you intend to use your eggs, remove your eggs from the fridge and place them in a bowl on the counter.

Once the shells are removed, put the peeled eggs into a bowl, and add just enough cold water to completely cover. If you add boiling or freezing water to eggs, the shells will break open, allowing contents to leak out into the boiling water.

If you remove eggs from the refrigerator and drop them right into the boiling water, the middles of the eggs are too cold to be cooked correctly. However, cooling the hard-boiled eggs quickly by placing them into a bowl of cold water right after they are cooked, will help keep your eggs from getting too cooked.

Hard cooked eggs that are cooled rapidly and placed in their shells, should be refrigerated. Hard cooked eggs should be consumed within seven days. According to the Food and Drug Administration, you can store hard-cooked eggs in the refrigerator up to seven days after cooking. A clean, sealed container or bag can be used to store the hard-cooked eggs, which are still in the shell, in a refrigerator. Whether hard-boiled eggs are peeled or still in the shell, the hard-boiled eggs properly stored in the fridge should be consumed within a week of cooking.

Hard-boiled eggs in their shells have a much shorter shelf life than uncooked eggs in the shell, which may last for three to five weeks in the refrigerator. Uncooked eggs in their shells are stored for up to one month in a refrigerator. While raw eggs can still be fine for weeks in the fridge, after cooking, they quickly drop their shelf life. They will not last as long as raw eggs, as the shells protective covering is compromised in the cooking process, with exposed pores making it easier for bacteria to enter and contaminate eggs.

Raw eggs have a thicker shell that protects them, keeping out any harmful bacteria that can sneak in and touch the yolk. Boiled eggs are actually more vulnerable to bacteria contamination because the cooking process damages the protective coating on the eggs shell, according to the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. Before you boil an egg, toss any eggs with cracked or irregular shells, advises the FDA.

Once eggs are cooled, dry them with a towel, then store them refrigerated to keep away bacteria and other contamination. Place (room temperature) eggs into the pan, cover with cold tap water, which should be cold, but not frozen. To ensure that the fresh eggs are safe, keep them stored in a temperature of 40 degrees or cooler at all times.

It is better to buy several eggs frequently and keep them in a cool room temperature, rather than buying eggs in large quantities and keeping them very cold. Bacteria can quickly grow at warmer temperatures and cause food poisoning, so if you are not ready to serve or eat the eggs, do not remove them from the fridge. If you happen to have left eggs out at room temperature for two hours or longer, to prevent food poisoning, throw them out immediately. If you are not eating your soft-boiled eggs immediately after cooking, you are fine to store them in the shells and store in the refrigerator up to two days.

Once the eggs are cold and dry, put them into a plastic Tupperware container and put it in the refrigerator, where it will last for up to one week, according to the FDA. According to the U.S. Egg Board, eggs that are still in the hard-boiled shells will stay delicious for about a week if stored correctly (meaning in a refrigerator not warmer than 40 degrees Fahrenheit), but peeled eggs should be eaten the same day. Unpeeled eggs will keep for a couple of days longer than peeled ones, so it may make more sense to leave them in the shell if you are making a big batch. Peeled, hard-boiled eggs can be stored in a fridge in a cold water bowl with cover for about 1 week (change water daily)–or in a sealed container with no water (cover eggs with damp paper towels) for about as long.

Peeled hard-boiled eggs stored in the refrigerator must be consumed within 48 hours because of the exposed wet surface area of the egg whites and potential growth of microorganisms. When it comes to storage methods, Glad also suggests keeping your hard-boiled eggs in an airtight container of food in the fridge – if you are planning to carry them (to picnics, for instance), you should aim to keep them cool in insulated coolers or using frozen gel packs.

Frozen cooked eggs lose a lot of their water when thawed to eat, so this results in a strange-tasting, crumbly yolk and rubbery egg whites that may not taste good. Even if eggs taste much like normal eggs, they will not last quite as long, because cooking eggs dissolves the cuticle, the naturally occurring waxy protective layer found on shells.

Store the eggs in their egg corrals–but be sure to label them cooked, lest you mistake them for the similarly-looking, unshelled eggs you have. After they have boiled, use the water to rinse your eggs, cool them, and remove their shells, readying them to be pickled. While it is completely safe to put your newly-boiled eggs into your refrigerator when they are still warm, you might want to let them cool slightly to lessen any shock to your refrigerators interior temperature.
