An electric stove can get very hot, depending on the settings. If the stove is set to high, the coils can get red hot and cause serious burns. If the stove is set to low, it will still get hot, but not as hot as on high. Always use caution when handling an electric stove.

The average setting of an electric stove has a temperature of 220 to 300 degrees Fahrenheit. The low, medium and high settings on the electric stove do not match the temperature. You will have to do some trial and error to understand the temperature of the low, medium and high settings. On a nine-level oven (where 9 is the highest and hottest level), medium-high heat is between 6 and 7.

On medium heat, the temperature can gradually rise to a high flame. Although the coils take some time to warm up, the temperature can get out of hand once the coils have warmed up.

The electrical current is usually passed through a bimetal that senses heat and closes and opens depending on the temperature setting. Of all the stovetop settings, low heat is one of the easiest to determine. With a gas stove, the average heat ranges from 300 to 400, which means the low-medium temperature setting is somewhere between 200 and 300 degrees Fahrenheit.

The medium setting on the stove should produce enough heat to make you remove your hand after three seconds at 325 to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. If the setting is too high, the electric coil heats up faster.

If you have an electric stove coil that gets too hot at low settings, it may have a faulty switch that keeps the electricity on longer than it should be on.

If your stove is connected to a standard outlet, it may not reach its maximum temperature or work at all. If the glass hob burner gets very hot, the setting is too high, or you may have problems with a malfunctioning electrical switch. If the oven overheats and the temperature drops significantly and you don’t lower it, then your burner may have an efficiency problem. If you don’t control the temperature, your stove can get hot enough to catch fire or damage it.

How well an electric stove heats depends on the type of heat it produces and the size of the burner. The heat is determined by the amount of electricity available, and the current is controlled by the burner control switch. Electricity provides heat more efficiently than gas, which means the kitchen is cooler when the stove is on.
