How Does A Rice Cooker Know When The Rice Is Done
A rice cooker is able to tell when the rice is done by measuring the temperature and amount of water in the cooker. When the rice is cooked, the water will have evaporated and the temperature will have risen. The rice cooker will then switch off automatically.
The rice cooker doesn’t necessarily know that the rice is cooked, but it will detect the rise in temperature that occurs when the water runs out. The rice cooker knows the rice is ready and will turn off once all the water has evaporated or been absorbed by the rice and the internal temperature rises above 212 degrees Fahrenheit. By adding double the amount of water to the rice in the pot that the pot starts with, it heats up and the rice will boil and steam when it reaches 212 degrees Fahrenheit.

The temperature sensor inside the rice cooker monitors the heat inside the rice cooker; when it starts to rise above 212 F (the boiling point of water), it means that the rice has absorbed all the liquid.
