Does Tomato Paste Go Bad

Despite being one of the most common ingredients in nearly every cuisine across the globe, tons of tomato sauce is wasted as people are not sure how to properly preserve it, and they rarely ever use a full can in one meal, which causes it to get spoiled and moldy. When stored correctly, canned tomato paste will retain its best quality for around 4 months in a freezer, and is safer to eat for a lot longer. Opened canned tomato paste will last for roughly as long as canned tomatoes generally do in the fridge, about 5-7 days. As long as you make sure that your containers are sealed tight, most leftover tomato sauce lasts three to five calendar days when stored in the can.

You can then put the Tomato Paste from the tube into jars that are sealed and kept in the fridge for several weeks, freeze it in cheese trays for up to nine months, or can it pressure cook into smaller cans to store up to one year. Even if it is in glass jars or tubes that you store this sauce, you will want to store it in a refrigerator once it is opened so that the great flavors and shelf life are preserved. Considering how long you have been opening your sauce and leaving it out in the air may also impact its longevity. You will notice that your tomato sauce starts changing colors over time, likely because of the change of temperatures, and once you open it for a month and it is not done, toss it.
