Does Cream Of Tartar Go Bad

Can Cream of Tartar Spoil Over Time?

Cream of tartar can spoil if it comes in contact with water or direct sunlight — otherwise, it will last for a very long period if stored at room temperature and in a container free of moisture. The cream of tartar is a powdered version of tartaric acid, which has a long shelf life.

In general, if we keep tartar cream dry and properly sealed, we can expect it to last (and also remain of the highest quality) for almost six months past its expiration date. Heat, humidity and air are what will most likely ruin your tartar cream, as long as it is kept safe away from heat for as long as possible it will last you that long.
