Can Worcestershire Sauce Go Bad?

Worcestershire sauce cannot go bad as the unopened bottle can last indefinitely in the refrigerator and between 2 to 3 years if stored in the pantry. However, after opening, it can retain quality for 12 months in the pantry and up to 3 years in the refrigerator.

As complicated as it sounds, Worcestershire is actually just a fermented sauce. Worcestershire is hard to go bad because it already contains a lot of natural preservatives. The bottle is very high in natural preservatives, the sauce is shelf stable and does not require refrigeration after opening. If you want to keep Worcestershire longer, we insist on taking the sauce bottle out of the fridge.

If you store an open sauce bottle at room temperature, you can expect it to last about 1-1.5 years. Once a bottle of sauce is opened, its quality will begin to deteriorate over time. If you only use Worcestershire sauce occasionally, keep open bottles in the refrigerator as they will keep their quality longer. You can of course continue to use Worcestershire sauce that has gone bad, but you would probably be better off if you had a bottle that actually tasted like Worcestershire sauce.

How long the sauce last?

Even when the Worcestershire reason goes through such changes, it can still be used in dishes as long as there are no visible signs of spoilage. A change in the color of the sauce is considered normal, as the texture and color of the Worcestershire sauce will change slightly over time. Even if the sauce does not seem to separate during storage, shake well before using.
