How to tell if the Sweet Potato is Spoiled?
If potatoes turn brown or black after cooking, it’s time to throw them away. If your potatoes are shriveled or brown, or even if most of them don’t look good, you should throw them away and don’t use them, as some foods can cause stomach pain if eaten when spoiled. If after boiling the potatoes are too soft and sticky, then you understand that the boiled potatoes are bad.
If you leave the bowl on the table for too long, the cold water will get hot and you will have to deal with the rotten potatoes again. If you want the cold water to stay as cold as possible, this will help keep the potatoes looking their best for longer, and you can also add ice cubes to the bowl to lower the overall temperature of the water. For example, if you plan to add potatoes to a slow roast, you may need to wait a bit before adding the potatoes so they don’t dissolve during cooking.

Storage and Preparation: Sweet Potatoes
There are so many things you can’t control, like how potatoes were stored before you buy them, that it can affect how long they last. The rate at which potatoes age depends on many factors, including how they were stored prior to purchase. Potatoes, like garlic and onions, have a fairly long shelf life. If you store them in ideal conditions, they will easily last over a month, if not longer. In the past, our ancestors had cellars where they stored potatoes, onions, beets, and other vegetables for the winter.
It is important to keep in mind that everything depends on the method of preparation, storage method, and expiration date. There should be no differences in cooking other than the obvious (boil fresh, drain preserves, etc.), but the taste will be different. Figuring out the best way for you will depend on exactly what you plan to do with your potatoes.
You should store raw sweet potatoes in a dark, cool place, such as a pantry. Try not to store them in hot places, because at too high temperatures, small holes form inside the potatoes. Sweet potatoes keep for about two weeks when stored this way, or up to a month if kept below room temperature. When stored at room temperature, you have a week or two before the potatoes begin to sprout or deteriorate in quality. When stored in a pantry at a low temperature, raw tubers remain tasty and healthy for several months.
Be prepared for stored tubers to sprout if you store them too long in a pantry without adequate air circulation. At too low temperatures, hard, woody-white spots form in the pulp, which greatly spoils the taste and texture. Although storing raw sweet potatoes in the refrigerator can extend their shelf life, this should not be done, as the low temperature can cause a hardcore with white spots, making the potatoes tasteless, tasteless, and difficult to eat.
